The DJI Mavic 2 Pro is a small yet powerful drone from DJI and is capable of capturing high-quality footage up to 4K resolution. This is an ideal drone for beginners due to its compact size and ease of flight. It’s ideal for both training purposes, as well as being more than capable of being used as a commercial drone.
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro features a CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) Hasselblad camera. The Hasselblad camera features a 1-inch sensor with no zoom. It supports a 10-bit colour profile, which is four times the amount of colour levels per channel of that of its predecessor. This provides maximum flexibility for editing. This is an upgrade on the Mavic Pro‘s camera. So, if you’re looking for image quality over zoom capability the Mavic 2 Pro is ideal.
Another noteworthy feature of the Mavic is the ‘quiet propellers’. These are ideal for areas where noise pollution from the propellers may be an issue.
The new Mavic 2 Pro features OcuSync 2.0 which provides you with 1080p video stream up to 8 km (5 miles) away. It also features “omnidirectional obstacle sensing”, otherwise known as “360-degree obstacle avoidance”. This gives the Mavic 2 more situational awareness and makes it a safe-to-fly solution.

Enhanced Image Quality
The Mavic 2 Pro is set to come featured with the CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) Hasselblad camera. The Hasselblad camera features a 1-inch sensor with no zoom. This is an upgrade on the Mavic Pro’s camera, and if you’re looking for image quality over zoom capability the Mavic 2 Pro is ideal.
Following the Mavic Pro’s camera receiving mixed reviews, the Mavic 2 Pro’s camera is, therefore, an upgrade. Hasselblad cameras have previously featured on DJI’s Matrice 600 drone. This makes the Mavic 2 Pro ideal for any budding videographers and filmmakers looking to make their breakthrough into the commercial drone market.
The Mavic 2 is also set to feature “omnidirectional obstacle sensing”, otherwise known as “360-degree obstacle avoidance”. This gives the Mavic 2 more situational awareness than the Pro and makes it a safe-to-fly solution.
The Mavic Pro was naturally seen as the ideal training drone, but the Mavic 2 could quite easily step into its place. Drone novices often fear crashing their drone, however with this new obstacle avoidance technology, it takes a certain element of this fear away from the user.
4K Ultra HD Video
The DJI Mavic Drone supports 4K video at 30fps. No Electronic Image Stabilization is used, ensuring all footage is 4K. They have created a miniaturized, ultra-precise 3-axis gimbal for the Mavic, capable of stabilizing the camera even during a high-speed motion for smooth video and sharp photos.
Longer Flight Time
Despite the Mavic’s compact size, it’s length of flight doesn’t reduce, and actually expands on that of the Mavic Pro. It flies much longer than you would expect from its compact size. It is capable of reaching an absolute maximum flight time of 31 minutes.
With the Mavic being such a compact drone, this makes it ideal to use for training to fly a drone for a number of use cases. It allows you to gain confidence with flying and teaches you the fundamentals without overcomplicating the training process. The positioning sensors scan the surroundings to ensure it avoids hitting objects, another reason it’s ideal for new flyers.
Photography and Videography
The Mavic Pro’s 4K camera allows it to capture stunning scenic imagery and videos and is ideal for startup businesses looking for a drone for this purpose. The Pro also integrates a Hasselblad camera as part of its setup. Hasselblad cameras are renowned for their uncompromising image quality, and high performance.
