Drone Hire FAQs - COPTRZ

Leasing a drone could be more cost-effective than buying a drone if you won’t be using it on a regular basis. You won’t have the expense of buying the aircraft and only pay for what you use. Leasing a drone is the perfect solution for businesses with one-off projects requiring specialist hardware and firmware. Whether you are in the Surveying, Inspection, Photography or Public Safety sectors, it’s worth looking at the cost of leasing a drone versus buying. Here are our top FAQs regarding drone leasing with COPTRZ.

Is a PfCO compulsory for hiring a drone?

One of our highest priorities here at COPTRZ is our customer’s safety so yes, you’ll be required to hold a PfCO.

Is insurance included in the initial price given?

Unfortunately, insurance isn’t included in the price we provide you. Instead, you’ll have to hold your insurance policy that both covers ‘hired in goods’ and also covers ‘drones’. One of the insurance providers that can supply you with such a policy is Moonrock or the like. You can either take out an insurance policy as and when you rent equipment off us or yearly.

After my drone rental is up, am I eligible to receive credit?

Yes, you can. If you’ve previously hired a drone from us here at COPTRZ and feel that you want to purchase the drone, we can look at providing you with a discount.

Is there a cost to return the equipment to you?

Not. The total cost is inclusive of us delivering the drone to you and also picking it back up once you’re done.

What’s the cost of the drone and other equipment if they’re damaged?

This is all comes down to what your insurance policy specifies. Going off a typical amount, the excess is around the £250 mark.

Do I need to hold valid public liability insurance to hire a drone from yourselves?

Yes, you need to hold a public liability insurance policy to hire a drone from us. This is legally required as it then means you’re complying with EC Regulation 785/2004.

What is the lead time for booking a drone to hire?

Typically, the team here at COPTRZ can ship out drones and related equipment before 2 PM Monday to Friday. You can also expect a next-day-delivery. However, you’ll want to ensure that you check with us that we have your desired drone/equipment in stock. If it’s the first time you’re using our services, we have some paperwork we need you to fill in. We’ll also carry out a background check which can typically take 2 days.

What documents do I need before I can rent a drone from COPTRZ?

For legal purposes, we require valid proof of your insurance policy. In addition to this, we need to see a proof of address in the form of a utility bill and a valid photo ID. We may also, from time to time, dependent on circumstances, require a professional reference.
